Abstract

The AC conductivities have been measured in the frequency range from 3 Hz to 100 kHz at temperatures in the phases II and I along the b -axis of CsNO 3 crystal to study the dynamical properties near the structural phase transition point T tr . The frequency dependence of conductivities varies at T tr . The spectra of conductivities on the complex conductivity plane show polydispersive relaxation processes in both the phases. The conductivities for the b -axis of the crystal have been compared with those for the c -axis. The effective relaxation time τ( T ) can be evaluated from the experimental results and described by activation type in phase I. The behavior of τ( T ) shows a stepwise change near T tr .
