Abstract
Samples of commercial purity aluminium were a.c. anodized in 15% sulphuric acid at 300 and 600 A m -2 and the process was monitored by measuring voltage/time relationships and the coating weights developed. Inconsistencies of behaviour were observed for long periods of time and successive anodic treatments in the same solution, which may be related to the generation of sulphur in acid decomposition by electrolysis.
