Abstract

By reviewing recent progress in the models used to explain abundance anomalies in stars, a number of problems involving atomic physics are identified, in particular: the collision cross-sections for excited states, the constitution of large atomic physics data banks, the angular distribution of electrons after photoionization and the identification of broad absorption features.
