Abstract

In September, 1984, Japanese SIGSAM was formed in Japan Society of Software Science and Technology. The first chairman is Dr. Tateaki Sasaki, The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, and the working committee members are Dr. Naoto Niki, The Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Prof. Hidetsune Kobayashi, Department of Mathematics, Nihon University, Mr. Yoshinari Fukui, Total Information System Division, Toshiba Corporation, and Mr. Akio Furukawa, Department of Mathematics, Tokyo Metropolitan University. The number of members is about 40 now, from the fields of mathematics, mathematical sciences, physics, and technology. In each year, the group organizes four meetings and the biggest event is the three-day meeting at RIMS, Kyoto University. In each meeting, we have 30 ~ 50 attendants (not only J-SIGSAM members but also non-members), and 3 ~ 5 papers are presented in each day. The last meeting was held on February 26, 1987, at The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (see below for the titles and abstracts of the papers presented). Recently, we had an election for the J-SIGSAM chairman, and Prof. Morio Nagata, Department of Science and Technology, Keio University, has been elected as the new chairman.
