Abstract

The cluster [Re 2Ru 2(μ 4-S)(μ-C 5H 4N)(μ-pyS)(CO) 13] (pyS = pyridine-2-thionato) reacts with [Ru 3(CO) 12] at 150°C to give the product [Re 2Ru 2(μ-H)(μ 4-S)(μ-C 5H 4N)(CO) 14], which contains the same arrangement of metal atoms around the tetrahedral sulphur ligand as the parent. The loss of the pyS ligand is compensated for by the addition of a hydride and a carbonyl ligand and by the formation of an ReRe bond.
