Abstract

Abstract Malignant cellular function is maintained by a functionally altered proteome. Helping the proteome in this context is the chaperome, a network of molecular chaperones and folding enzymes. This talk will discuss how, by using chemical tools that selectively target the stress chaperome, one may perform mechanistic and therapeutic investigations into the tumor proteome. Specifically, using chemical tools as affinity-purification baits or as global perturbers of the altered proteome one may inquire into its nature (i.e., identify and investigate). By attacking specifically the stress chaperome, one may inactivate the altered proteome, and thus revert or slow the disease phenotype (i.e., treat). In summary, I will discuss how by chemically sensing the stress chaperome one may investigate, understand and destabilize the tumor proteome. Citation Format: Gabriela Chiosis.
