Abstract

Aims & Objectives: To investigate the significance of A.baumannii in paediatric bacterial meningitis and to explore the characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of A.baumannii meningitis. Methods The cerebrospinal fluid specimens and the clinical data about patients who acquired intracranial Infection by A. baumannii were collected from 10 children’s hospital, and analysed by WHONET. Results A total of 318 cerebrospinal fluid specimens from 10 hospital were collected. The A.baumannii accounted for 5% and 75% of the isolation were resistant to most of the detected antibiotics. The mortality rate of A.baumannii meningitis is 37.5%, even though combination of several kinds of antibiotics administered. Conclusions A.baumannii meningitis is becoming an increasingly common clinical entity recently. Because of the resistance to antibiotics, the therapy for A.baumannii encounters arduous challenge. Although the combination of antibiotics couldn’t improve the prognosis. Insisting on Multi-center monitoring and using antibiotics reasonably and effectively appears to be particularly important.
