Abstract

Aims & Objectives: Measure the difference bettween previous and after simulation training about pediatrics emergencies scenerios in last year pediatrics residents in Guatemala Methods Descriptive study; 5 hours training in Pediatrics Emergencies Simulation Center – SOYUTZ -, pre and post Objective Structured Clinical Exam was performed. A development of 5 scenarios about topics were performed and debriefing enhace the guideline as checklist. Results 54 residents in 9 groups. The 41% have pass score in pre test and 76% in the post test. The average score as group was different too. The confidence enviroment and debriefing describes increase attitude measurement in Likert style scale. The skills were performed better after simulation session with improvement since 36 % to 74% after the training. Conclusions Simulation is a useful methodology to imporve the performance in postgradute pediatrics residents in Guatemala. The Pediatric Emergencies Simulation Center - SOYUTZ - Hospital General san Juan de Dios / Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in Guatemala City is a facility available and with impact to traing on site the residents. Development of checklist based in protocols and guidelines increase adherence to the performance and reduce bias of training.
