Abstract

Esophageal magnetic recanalization is a known technique for the management of esophageal atresia in the pediatric population. To our knowledge, there are no report of esophageal magnetic recanalization in the adult population. Adult patient with complete esophageal occlusion typically as a result of radiation who are not amenable to balloon dilation have an extremely poor quality of life. Surgical procedures or sharp recanalization techniques may be associated with severe potential complication due to the risk of injury to adjacent structures and the difficulty in operating in a radiated field.
