Abstract

Treatment of acute massive and submassive pulmonary embolism (PE) has traditionally been performed with anticoagulation, intravenous or catheter-based thrombolytics. The recent availability of several new percutaneous embolectomy devices has provided an opportunity to inspect thromboembolus both on the table and with microscopy.
