Abstract
VX2 carcinoma is an anaplastic squamous cell carcinoma derived from a virus-induced papilloma in rabbits. The VX2 rabbit tumor model, originally proposed by Shope and Hurst in 1933 is one of the most commonly used model by interventional radiologists for studies involving liver, kidney, head and neck, uterine, lung, bowel, bone and pancreatic tumors. We present an educational exhibit summarizing the preferred and alternative organ specific methods/techniques and their advantages and disadvantages for inoculating VX2 tumors in New Zealand White Rabbits.
