Abstract
There is a paucity of data and consensus regarding placing PICCs in the setting of bacteremia. In our institution, the PICC team has a policy to not place unless >48hrs clear blood cultures. However, if a port is removed for positive blood cultures in the interventional radiology suite, a PICC will be placed at this time if requested regardless of blood culture status. This retrospective chart review of this cohort is to evaluate the outcomes of this practice.
