Abstract
Published studies have long shown tunneled hemodialysis catheters have high rates of infection and thrombus related catheter dysfunction. The aim of our study is to examine French size and catheter tip type in relation to primary patency rates, incidence of catheter related infections and incidence of catheter related malfunction in comparison to current literature. To examine these complications, we performed a retrospective chart review of all patients who underwent a tunneled hemodialysis catheter placement at two hospitals at our institution.
