Abstract

A prior study indicated that using the tissue permeabilizing agent cyclopentadecanolide (CPDL) markedly improved the efficacy for sonothrombolyis (STBL) of more aged and fibrin-rich clots, using microbubbles (MBs) or tPA. Furthermore, CPDL permitted MBs and tPA to complement each other additively; which was observed in younger clot but absent for older clots. This current study was initiated to determine how CPDL promotes STBL and why it restored MB-tPA complementation during STBL.
