Abstract
BACKGROUND: Pituitary abscesses are rare and can be dire. During MRI (the preferred imaging modality for prolactinomas) they present as a solid tumor displaying an intrasellar or suprasellar mass with attenuation similar to the brain, demonstrating moderate contrast enhancement. Here we present a patientwho had transsphenoidal resection of a prolactinoma and pathology revealed a gram positive filamentous bacteria.
