Abstract

Diabetic Mobile Health Apps have been increasingly applied in innovative diabetes management. Those technologies could effectively help patients to manage their diabetes. CarnetDia App is the first Diabetic Health App developed in Cambodia and released to the public since September 2018 for free. CarnetDia App aims to raise the awareness among Cambodians. And patients could register and record their glycemia in order to send to their healthcare providers. CarnetDia App is fully supported by Cambodian Association of Diabetes and Endocrine Technology and is also endorsed by Cambodia 4.0 Center. This study was to analyze the usefulness of CarnetDia App among Cambodian diabetic patients. We retrospectively analyzed the patients’ records in our App since launching in September 2018. Since the release in September 2018 there were 16,375 users (iOS 7,701 and Android 8,674). We also analyzed the records of the patients who registered and recorded their glycemia in CarnetDia App in order to send to their doctors. The geographic distribution of the registered users was predominantly in Phnom Penh. We observed that on average the registered users self-checked the glycemia 2 or 3 times a week but overwhelmingly did before breakfast. It seemed that younger patients (from 30-39 years old) have temptations to record their glycemia in the cellphone more than older patients. CarnetDia app won Best Digital Social Innovation Technology of the year 2022 in Cambodia. Diabetic Mobile Health App such as CarnetDia is an existing evidence of feasibility and acceptability of mobile application in our diabetic community.
