Abstract
Regular monitoring and measurement of glucose levels are required to ensure reasonable glycemic control and to prevent diabetes-related complications in patients. The Freestyle LibreTM flash glucose monitoring (FGM) system has significantly improved self-management by providing real-time access to their glucose profiles and guiding necessary steps for management based on the retrieved data. The term ‘glucose management indicator’ (GMI) was proposed to replace estimated A1c to avoid a misinterpretation that the value of this metric should always closely match a corresponding laboratory-measured A1c.
