Abstract

Neonatal diabetes mellitus (NDM) a rare cause of hyperglycemia in the neonatal phase, occurring in 1/300,000 case is characterized by a genetic mutation causing hyperglycemia in the first 6 months of age. We will present the case of a 5-week-old male with NDM, presented with hyperventilation, dehydration and complicated by status epilepticus and venous sinus thrombosis to review the pathophysiology, the complications and management options.
