Abstract

Adrenal insufficiency (AI) is an uncommon but life-threatening condition that occurs secondary to impaired secretion of adrenal glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid hormones. This condition can be caused by primary destruction or dysfunction of the adrenal glands or impairment of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. With the rising prevalence of obesity in the US, it is necessary to study obesity in relation to various medical conditions. This is important as obesity has a significant impact on outcomes of numerous cardiopulmonary conditions.
