Abstract
OFC (or brown tumors) among patients with Primary hyperparathyroidism ( PHPT) in the US is very rare; PHPT usually presents as asymptomatic hypercalcemia during routine biochemical screening. OFC can sometimes be misdiagnosed as metastatic bone disease, bone cysts, multiple myeloma and osteosarcoma. The differentiating feature is hypercalcemia, with elevated PTH levels. When a lytic lesion is seen on radiography, in the presence of hypercalcemia, evaluation for PHPT should be initiated.
