Abstract
The diagnostic challenge of euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (EDKA) is attributed to its relatively uncommon presentation and similarity to other forms of ketoacidosis. Often unrecognized at initial presentation, appropriate treatment for this life-threatening complication is delayed and potentially fatal. To emphasize EDKA as a differential diagnosis in severe metabolic derangement and highlight the complexity of ketoacidosis with alcoholic pancreatic injury, we describe a case of EDKA with severe acute pancreatitis in a patient without known diabetes.
