Abstract

The Kerr-nonlinear blackbody thermal reservoir concept has been extended to a broadband squeezed thermal reservoir. The interaction of such reservoir with a driven three-level atom in -type configuration of its levels is formulated in terms of the density matrix equations. Absorptive–dispersive properties of such system for the probe transition are studied in terms of electrical susceptibility and magnetic permeability under several conditions of parameters. Effect of Bessel beam type of transverse mode structures of the interacting fields is also investigated and the system shows left-handedness under certain parametric conditions.
