Abstract
The absorption spectra of p-nitroaniline in aqueous and nonaqueous solutions of different neutral surfactants reveal many interesting phenomena. In carbon tetrachloride solution, p-nitroaniline as an electron acceptor, interacts with neutral surfactants as electron donors while in aqueous solution, water plays an important role in interacting with p-nitroaniline. The thermodynamic and spectrophotometric properties of p-nitroaniline-surfactant interaction in these two media have been determined.
