Abstract

An improved microwave-sideband CO 2 laser spectrometer with resolution of 2 × 10 -4cm -1 is described. For a series of vibration-rotation lines of NH 3 in v 2 and v 2 = 2 a← v 2 = 1 s bands, frequencies, strengths, widths and shifts are derived by measuring the absorption line profiles at different pressures. The experimental results are analysed and compared with previous theoretical calculations and measurements.
