Absorption of acetate, pyruvate and certain krebs cycle intermediates by Fasciola hepatica

Abstract

1. 1. Absorption kinetics for acetate, citrate, malate, pyruvate and succinate were measured in a modified saline medium. 2. 2. All these compounds appeared to be absorbed by simple diffusion. 3. 3. When 10 mM citrate was added to the medium, acetate absorption was increased as much as twenty times and was not linear with respect to increasing concentration.
