Abstract

The objective of this study was to describe a method for calculating the absorption-fission matrices and the reaction matrices for the method of surface harmonics. A balance method for calculating the parameters of the vector p was proposed, and this allowed calculation of the balanced matrices. The applicability of the multiplication suppression approximation in representing the absorption-fission and the reaction matrices for typical VVER and RBMK cells was also discussed, and these matrices were used to calculate, by the method of surface harmonics, the effective multiplication factor for cells in both reactor types. The results were significant decreases in the methodological errors in both cases.
