Abstract
Summary Absorption correction factors are derived for the equatorial back reflections recorded from thin plate-shaped single crystals. These have been successfully applied in the structure analysis of polytypes of layer compounds isostructural with cadmium iodide, crystallizing in the habit of thin hexagonal platelets. Samples consisting of single polytypes or of a number of polytype lamellae parallel to the basal plane are considered.
