Abstract
Optical absorption and magnetic circular dichroism spectra of Ag − ion in KCl crystals have been measured at 15–300 K. The line shape has been calculated taking into account a linear electron–lattice interaction in the (a 1g)(t 1u) excited state by means of the Monte Carlo integration method. The calculated line shape is in good agreement with the experimentally observed spectra. The observed asymmetric line shape of the C band is suggested to be caused by difference of force constant of the harmonic potential energy between the excited and ground states.
