Absolute Rate Coefficients in IR‐Photochemistry: Simple Estimates of the Rate Constant from Molecular Parameters

Abstract

AbstractA simple analytical expression for the steady state IR‐photochemical rate coefficient k(st) is presented, which has been obtained by semiempirical extension of statistical limiting cases and fitting to results of exact statistical model calculations. The analytical expression predicts k(st) values in good agreement with exact model results. The effect of specific unimolecular dissociation rates on k(st) is discussed.
