Abstract

The second order susceptibilities of single crystalline cubic ZnTe, ZnSe and ZnS have been determined using a Maker Oscillation technique. Q-switched Nd:YLF lasers emitting at fundamental wavelengths of λ F =1321 nm and λ F =1047 nm were used as light sources. The resulting second harmonic generation coefficients at λ F =1321 nm range from 8 pm/V (ZnS) to 52 pm/V (ZnTe). An increase of the values is observed at λ F =1047 nm as expected from the dispersion of the second order coefficients.
