Abstract

About 180 absolute intensities have been measured in the spectrum of CO2 near 2.7 μm. The lines belong to two combination bands, ν1 + ν3 and 2ν2 + ν3 and their associated hot bands. The principal results are conveniently expressed in terms of the value of the squared transition dipole matrix element (in debye2) and its variation with the rotational quantum numbers. For the ν1 + ν3 band [Rm]2=0.001078[1+0.000031m−0.00000888J′(J′+1)]2 and for the 2ν2 + ν3 band [Rm]2=0.000717[1+0.000097m+0.00001843J′(J′+1)]2. It is believed that the accuracy of the results is of the order of 2%.
