Abstract

Concentrations of heavy metals (manganese, iron, zinc, and lead) contained in atmospheric aerosols were measured by two different methods: 1. proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and 2. atomic-absorption-spectroscopy (AAS). The comparison of the two sets of measured data shows a remarkable agreement (differences < 20%) between the concentrations of the analysed elements.
