Abstract

Photometers are for measuring the intensity of light. They include a light sensitive detector, such as a photomultiplier tube or a semiconductor CCD detector. In order to measure reliable intensities, the photometer has to be calibrated. A calibrated light source has to be used. Usually narrow band interference filters are used in the system. The filter transmission curves have to be known. There are many practical problems, until a photometer is carefully calibrated.
