Abstract

The stratigraphy of six localities with mammals of Early and Middle Pleistocene age, and their relations with volcanic beds (basaltic flows, effusive breccias, pumice deposits) are described. Some absolute age data are given, and while waiting for more absolute age information, it is expected to have an absolute chronology of the whole Pleistocene fauna of Auvergne-Velay — and indeed for the whole of Europe — in the near future.
