Abstract

R e t ro p h a ryngeal abscess is an uncommon pato l o g y, secondary to upper re s p i r a t o ry tract infec tions in children or trauma by foreign body in adults. The lateral neck x-ray and the computed to mography together with the clinical pre s e n t a t i o n permit diagnosis. Precious antibiotic treatment and s u rgical drainage avoid potentially fatal compli cations. We present a case of a patient who develop an abscess re t h ro p h a ryngeal after the ingesting of fo reign body (chicken bone), were necessary anti biotic treatment and surgical drainage. Clinical and radiologic findings, complications and tre a t ment are reviewed.
