Abstract
ABSTRACT.The histories of the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (ASET) and the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) are intertwined. It is important to remember the people who came together to organize and move the field forward. A long list of impressive technologists and physicians are due credit for the beginnings of what today are two professional organizations that have had a significant impact on the development of the field of electroneurodiagnostic technology. This paper will focus on the efforts and contributions of these accomplished pioneers in forming ABRET, and how their legacy has been carried forward by the leaders and volunteers who have worked diligently to bring recognition and a sense of professionalism to the organization.
