Abstract

Experimental mole fraction solubilities have been determined for benzoic acid, 4-tert-butylbenzoic acid, 4-chlorobenzoic acid, 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid, 4-methoxybenzoic acid, salicylamide, 2-ethylanthraquinone, 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid, 1,4-dichloro-2-nitrobenzene, sorbic acid, 1,4-dibromobenzene and 4-chloro-1-bromobenzene dissolved in 4-methyl-2-pentanol at 298 K. Solubilities were determined using a spectrophotometric method based on the Beer-Lambert law. Abraham model correlations were derived by combining the measured solubility data determined in the present study with published experimental values taken from our earlier publications. Fifty experimental data points were used in determining the Abraham model correlations presented in this study. The mathematical expressions were found to back-calculate the observed solubility to within standard deviations of 0.113 log units (or less).
