Above-surface and below-surface electron emission from multiply charged ions interacting with metal surfaces

Abstract

Energy spectra of electrons ejected during collisions of H-like nitrogen and bare carbon ions of a Ni surface are analysed. It is found that at most 10% of the KLL Auger electrons are emitted from above the surface.
