Abstract
The article deals with the discussion about the foundation year of Slavuta town in Khmelnytskyi region. Regarding this, a wide range of issues relating to the process of urbanization in early-modern Volhynia is being concerned. The article observes the correlation between the town planning practices and the development of large estates, as well as the role of the noble class in location acts and the expansion of towns.
