About the Authors

Abstract

Dan Arnold is Associate Professor of Philosophy of Religions at the University of Chicago Divinity School. He is the author of Buddhists, Brahmins, and Belief: Epistemology in South Asian Philosophy of Religion (Columbia University Press, 2005); and Brains, Buddhas, and Believing: The Problem of Intentionality in Classical Buddhist and Cognitive-scientific Philosophy of Mind (Columbia University Press, 2012). His forthcoming anthology of original translations of Indian Madhyamaka texts is to be published by Columbia University Press in the series “Historical Sourcebooks in Classical Indian Thought.”Aaron Stauffer is the Louisville Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Vanderbilt Divinity School, working primarily with the Wendland-Cook Program in Religion and Justice. A recent PhD graduate in social ethics at Union Theological Seminary in the city of New York, his dissertation, “Organizing Lived Religious Practices for Power: Sacred Values in Broad-based Community Organizing” focuses on the political role of sacred value in broad-based community organizing.
