Abstract

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder of unknown etiology. Both central and peripheral factors are thought to contribute to the symptoms of thorough brain–gut connection. Functional neuroimaging studies have revealed that IBS has altered brain functionality. This study aimed to investigate the electroencephalographic (EEG) features of ongoing oscillatory activity in the rest-state of patients with IBS.
