Abstract

It is shown that a system undergoing metamagnetic transition under adiabatic conditions, “is moving” in a phase space along the first-order phase transition line. In the vicinity of the tricritical point the system is no longer adiabatic due to a sharp increase of an irreversible absorption of the low-frequency external field energy. Comparison is made of the results of present work with experimental data obtained for siderite FeCO 3.
