Abnormal activation of knee and ankle flexors–extensors is related to transmission changes in ankylosing spondylitis gait pattern?

Abstract

Discussion: Our preliminary data confirm the presence of delays in GM activation as in [3] but difference were found in the pattern of TA and RF. Some subjects showed the presence of co-contractions in GM and TA, with possible consequent increment in gait energy expenditure. Further evidence of these features will be obtain extending this study to a larger sample of subjects, and by including kinetic and kinematic analysis.
