Abstract

- Corso Vercelli is in «Barriera di Milano», a neighbourhood having a worker past, and from time immemorial being a welcoming area for new populations. Living here is based on cohabitation forms between the old and the new populations, according to which legal and illegal practices define new ways of space appropriation. A strongly deep-rooted local pride withstands changes. The cohabitation works with a certain degree of alienation, and only defining safe distances, going beyond the rhetoric about tolerance and integration.Key words: living, practices, cohabitation, multiculturalism, conflict, safe distance.Parole chiave: abitare, pratiche, coabitare, multiculturalismo, conflitto, distanza di sicurezza.
