Abstract

Poland is characterized by significant energy resources of straw especially in areas with high cereal stocks in the sown structure and high share of non-stock farms. The purpose of the study is to estimate the surplus straw that can be used for energy purposes, especially in agricultural holdings where it is produced. Based on GUS data from the General Agricultural Census and the Statistical Yearbook of Agriculture, energy potential was calculated at the district level. The calculations made it possible to conclude that practically every farm can replace the previously used coal with energy straw, while achieving measurable economic benefits.
