Abstract

A 70-year-old woman presented with diplopia for 1 year. She suffered from ptosis of left eye and received ptosis correction under the impression of senile ptosis in Japan 1 year ago. At the same time, she noticed diplopia. Eye movement revealed limitation of superior rectus, lateral rectus, and inferior oblique muscles of left eye. The pupils were isocoric. Brain CT scan revealed a mass lesion in the left side cavernous sinus. Carotid angiography showed a large aneurysm of internal carotid artery in left cavernous sinus. Embolization with detachable balloon and trapping of the ipsilateral internal carotid artery were performed smoothly, and the patient discharged with easy-looking and stable condition. The condition of ophthalmoplegia remained unchanged on last follow-up 6 months after treatment.
