Abstract
Background: Cervical pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy. Early diagnosis is essential for successful treatment and also to avoid interventions that could lead to severe hemorrhage and hysterectomy. Although methotrexate has been used successfully for stable patients, surgical treatment is necessary in hemodynamically unstable patients. Case: A 20-year-old female presented with with a cervical pregnancy. She underwent a a successfully trachelectomy. Results: This patient's postoperative surgical state was fairly good, and she was discharged from the hospital on the seventh postoperative day. Oral contraceptives were initiated immediately after surgery, and normal menstruation resumed 1 month postsurgery. The patient's uterine shape appeared to be normal 3 months postsurgery. Conclusions: Trachelectomy is a conservative surgical management technique indicated for young patients with unstable cervical pregnancy. (J GYNECOL SURG 31:37)
