Abstract

This work mainly focuses on controlling the speed of DC Motor using Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm based PID controller. The ABC algorithm used here helps in optimal tuning of PID controller. There is a comparison between traditional optimization techniques and modern optimization techniques for tuning PID parameters. It is noticed that the chosen ABC algorithm is able to tune kp, ki and kd parameters of PID controller optimally compared to traditional optimization techniques like Ziegler-Nichols method.
