Abstract
Child digital neglect occurs when parents or guardians fail to adequately supervise children's use of digital technologies. This phenomenon is concerning due to associated risks of psychological, behavioral, and educational harm. Therefore, it's crucial to highlight the need for parents to act as mediators and protectors, promoting responsible digital education. This study aimed to understand the consequences of child digital neglect resulting from parental negligence in monitoring their children’s online activities. Adopting a qualitative narrative review approach, the study conducted a literature review and data collection from selected sources like Google Scholar and SciELO. Articles published between 2019 and 2024, freely available online and relevant to the topic, were included. Results underscored the importance of preventive measures and awareness-raising to address this issue, particularly given children's increased access to the online environment. Parental civil responsibility entails bearing the consequences of their minor children's actions, not only in terms of compensating third party damages but also in supervising and guiding their children's activities, especially in the digital realm, to prevent harm and ensure responsible and safe behavior.
