Abstract

VT storm is serious complication in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. In patients unresponsive to medical therapy, catheter ablation is a viable option but can be limited due to the unstable nature of the “unmappable” ventricular arrhythmia. We report a 63 yo man with a history of ischemic cardiomyopathy, EF 15%, who presented 6 months post ICD implantation with multiple ICD shocks and incessant wide QRS tachycardia unresponsive to antiarrhythmic drugs & IABP. Due to acute cardiogenic shock, a percutaneous left ventricular assist device (Tandem Heart™ - pVAD) was placed.
